India has significant solar potential, but weather conditions significantly influence the performance of rooftop solar systems. 

Heat, dust, humidity, and monsoon seasons all affect electricity generation. Understanding these factors helps homeowners set realistic expectations. 

How Heat Affects Solar Panels 

Solar panels are tested under ideal laboratory conditions. However, in India: 

  • 1. Rooftop temperatures can exceed 60°C in summer 

  • 2. Higher temperatures reduce panel efficiency 

  • 3. Output drops as temperature rises 

This means peak summer sunlight does not always translate into peak performance. 

Manufacturers such as Eastman consider high-temperature performance while evaluating system design for Indian conditions. 

Dust and Pollution 

Dust accumulation is common in many Indian cities. 

Dust: 

  • 1. Blocks sunlight 

  • 2. Reduces energy absorption

However, monsoons do not damage solar systems when properly installed.

  • 2. Corrosion risks increase 

  • 3. Proper installation becomes critical 

Component quality and installation standards play a major role in long-term performance.
